A large possibly teak or mahogany ship's wheel, a brass band reinforcing the felloe or wooden rim of the wheel and with eight spokes radiating out from the central brass drum or spindle which together with the rest of the steering mechanism forms part of the helm and is the device used aboard a water vessel to control that vessel's course.
English date unknown possible early to mid 20th century.

A very tall and impressive pair of Jacobean style polished wrought iron cresset topped andirons with scrolled legs. The two are connected by a barley twist top bar and two roasting spits from which hang two small drip cups.

An Arts & Crafts four sectioned antique panelled walnut & leather room screen to stop the draughts. Each section with gilt tooled leather panels, depicting cherubs cavorting amongst a cacophony of fruits, foliage and birds, set with walnut frames beneath a galleried walnut cornice.

A fine and slender carved wood and applied gesso jardiniere with a mirrored top and delicately carved figures of the Three Graces. Their arms are linked around the foliate decorated column which is supported on a tripod of large carved scrolled feet.

A BARONIAL FANTASY

A pair of enormous and rather eccentric patinated bronze andirons in the Baronial Baroque manner. Each is surmounted by majestic spread winged eagles holding scrolled cartouche shields and perched on ornate drums decorated with mythical beasts and sirens. The acanthus plumed and scrolled central body is framed either side by enormous pairs of monopodic winged lions resting on winged messengers above large horned grotesques flanking a central mask of The Green Man.

Mid 20th century.

Notes: These andirons were probably made for a grand mansion in the Southern States of America

An impressive stone keystone in three sections with a large carved, scrolled, cartouche above prominent ribbon and bell flower detail. Provenance: Originally on the façade of 298, Bishopsgate in the City Of London built between 1877-1890 and demolished in 1980.

A Coalbrookdale lamp stand modelled as an allegory of Europe, from a series of four cast-iron standards representing the continents. This series was designed by the celebrated British sculptor John Bell in the 1860s.

It was Francis Darby's interest in the possibilities of statue casting that led to the foundry’s partnership with Bell, who allowed the foundry to take a mold from his celebrated statue, The Eagle Slayer. Once they had successfully completed this task, Bell went on to design a number of fine cast items for them, including pieces for the Great Exhibition and the Paris Exposition.

John Bell (1811–1895) was a British sculptor perhaps most famous for his statue, The Eagle Slayer.

panel with a beaded border, depicts a romantic pastoral scene of a
shepherdess, seated beneath a tree and surrounded by her dogs
and sheep, being courted by her lover.

A tall antique carved oak fireplace surround & overmantel in the Jacobean style. The surround with fluted corinthian column jambs and a cushioned mantel shelf, the overmantel with two quartered panels separated by three pilaster Aztec style figures with stylised floral headdresses. The upper frieze, flanked by grotesque masks, is centred by a plain shield surrounded by scrolling leaf & figural carved decoration.

MONUMENTAL

A enormous and highly eccentric pair of Gothic Revival antique wrought iron andirons, each with four barley twist columns enclosing a fifth entwined around which are mythical writhing serpents with thrusting heads. Leaves and serpents spill out of the cresset tops and there are two smaller cressets below to the front extending upwards from the back bars. The whole is supported on sturdy elaborately scrolled feet.

A pair of very large cast iron Art Deco post mounted street lights part of a range of the early "Bell Top" designs made by the Revo Electric Company Ltd. Tipton. The makers name can be clearly seen on the control box. English circa 1930.

Notes: The Revo Street Lighting Company of Tipton Staffordshire (1917-1969) was one of the earliest manufacturers of electric street lighting. A copy of one of their 1930s advertisements is attached below. The company was later taken over by Duport who in 1967 sold the goodwill, patents and trademarks to The English Electric Company.

A fine French Siena Marble and Ormolu striking mantel clock garniture.
The gilt brass and enamel face with Arabic numerals & blued steel hands,
bears the inscription "A La Renaissance, 47-49 Bo St Martin Paris".

It is surmounted by a gilt bronze eagle wrestling a serpent with garlands
of flowers tumbling down either side to the brass mounted plinth.
The turned marble urns, set on square plinths, have gilt bronze handles
linked by swags of ormolu flowers.

This clock has its original fine quality eight day movement which
is in good working order.
