Stock No.16682
A large marble sculpture of Venus after Thorvaldsen's 'Venus with the Apple'. Likely Italian in origin, this sculpture is a fine copy of Thorvaldsen's celebrated work, and encapsulates the elegance of classical sculpture with the contrapposto figure of Venus and idealised figure, captured moments after she wins the golden apple over the maligned goddesses Juno and Minerva.
Italian, late 19th century with restorations.
