Stock No.17008
One of a pair of fine French Louis XVI fireplaces, in lightly veined white statuary marble. The panelled frieze with a central rectangular tablet, overlaid with finely carved laurel garlands is flanked by a pair of foliate paterae corner blocks. Supported on fluted, scrolling console jambs with acanthus, bell flower and husk decoration over moulded and carved footblocks.
These fireplaces retain their original cast iron inserts with finley cast putti playing musical instruments set within oval paterae surrounded by ribbon tied laurel and trellis panels.
French, circa 1880.
