A carved oak antique fireplace mantel in the Renaissance manner. The frieze, below the generously moulded shelf, with a delicately carved foliate and floral panel is flanked by end blocks with bunches of fruit tied with ribbons. The tall free standing columns fronting the jambs, with carved spiral beaded detail beneath Corinthian capitals, terminate with swags of flowers, foliage and beads above large foot blocks. French, late 19th century.
