A highly ornate gilt bronze fireplace insert with a bound laurel border which frames foliate and floral panels, inset with figurative cartouches. These cartouches hold putti cast in high relief and modelled as allegories: Art, Science and Industry.
This ornate insert is likely to have been made for The Great Exhibition of 1851.
Attributed to Stuart and Smith of Sheffield. English, mid-19th century.
