Stock No: 7095

A very beautiful, extremely well modelled, nearly life size plaster sculpture group maquette, of a blind man attended by a youth in the Grand Romaine manner. There are similarities to the sculpture 'La Piete Filiale' by the French sculptor Alfred Boucher(1850-1934), Filial Piety is a virtue of respect for one's parents, elders, and ancestors. But there are also similarities to the bronzes by Loys Potet(1866...?) and there is a partly obscured signature possibly of Loys Potet to the base but we cannot verify that this is the work of either of them. French, circa 1860,

Some small damages but can be restored.
