CAN'T LOCATE. A bronze representation of the character Don Salluste attributed to the French sculptor Antoine Louis Bernard (b.1821). Don Salluste de Bazan, Marquis of Finlas was a chararcter in Ruy Blas a tragic drama by Victor Hugo.
The signature L Berard 1849 is inscribed near his feet and the foundry mark for Miroy Freres is to the rear of the base and the name Don Saluste, note with one l only) is inscibed around the base. French, circa 1890.
