8874. A RARE AND SPLENDID large English Antique Rococo Revival cast iron chimneypiece,complemented with later glorious Greek Cippolino Marino green and ivory swirling veined marble shelf , ingrounds and footblocks. The latter cut from an original plinth from the Elgin Parthenon marbles display at the British Museum in the Duveen Gallery before its relocation in the present gallery. The chimneypiece with the Foundry Mark: James Yates, Rotherham, Yorkshire, No. 12306, dated December 14th 1843, English 1843.
