An unusual and original period pair of Robert Adam Neoclassical Roman style andirons, in the form of Vestal Virgins who protected the sacred fire of the Goddess Vesta, Goddess of the Hearth and the Flame, symbol of the endurance of the Roman Empire. Both are standing on Pagan plinths adorned with rams heads with cloven foot bases.
