IRISH, SILENUS GREEK WINE DEITY : A large Irish late Georgian / early Regency, Neoclassical, antique fireplace in richly carved Statuary marble, the breakfront shelf over a large, intricately carved central plaque depicting Silenus, companion to the Greek wine god Dionysus, attended and teased by a centaur, a young girl and four putti in a pastoral setting with fluted frieze panels either side of Connemara Green inlaid marble endblocks with applied Lion masks.Also on the jambs.
