7772 : ENGLISH ROCOCO GILTWOOD CHIMNEYPIECE. An exquisite period George II carved giltwood English Rococo chimneypiece in the manner of John Linell ( see drawing from the Victoria and Albert Museum, London ).The serpentine shelf of this antique mantel is above a large scrolled central cartouche with cross-hatched panels either side, large double 'c' scrolls and floral decoration over the jambs. Marble ingrounds and footblocks shown in 4th image, marble can be as shown Sienna , or Cippolino , or clients choice.
