A LARGE AND HANDSOME ENGLISH NEO CLASSICAL CHIMNEYPIECE in the late Georgian manner in Statuary and Verde Antico marble.The central finely carved plaque shows Cupid in slumber , in a Pastoral background against a plinth with a Dove perched on top, a flaming torchand with his quiver of arrows hanging on a flowering tree stump.The endblockings show winged Putti in hunting mode with one carrying his bow , a hawk alighting on his arm, the other stringing his bow....all under very finely carved egg and dart undershelf detail all supported on tall scrolled Acanthus carved jambs descending to richly scrolled bases.
