A large Neo Classical Terracota Campana Urn, probably by Blashfield... with decoration in the Greek Revival manner, after Bertel Thorvaldsen and Thomas Hope.Frieze features under the Anthymion motif beneath the rim shows various figures typical of Ancient Greek inspiration..showing flower and fruit maidens, minstrels and an Angel. The handles butted by the heads of River Deities.Awaits further research.

Refer to Sothebys Sale 21Sept 1999 Lot 457. A rare stoneware urn circa 1870....Although not stamped the texture of the clay & the design is very similar to the work produced by J M Blashfield.
