10868. OWEN JONES AT THE V & A .... A high quality Victorian fireplace Registered Grate insert, cast iron mounted with polychrome Minton Majolica glazed earthenware foliate pattern tiles very much in the style of Owen Jones, 1809-74. The actual integral firegrate matches the quality with ornate urn finials over straight turned bars , supported on fine scrolled brass feet.Jones was author of The Grammar of Ornament who on The Grande Tour in the early 19th century was greatly influence by Islamic design and the Alhambra Palace in Spain...he later figured prominently in the founding of The Victoria & Albert Museum.
