8538. A cast-iron fireback with arched top depicting Joshua and Caleb, two spies sent out before Moses into the land of Canaan. They brought back a bunch of grapes on a pole, an incident that St. Augustine saw as prefiguring Christ's eucharistic iconography of the vine.
