9924.SCULPTURE TO MAMMON. A large carved Portland Stone overdoor from the Bank Of England building at 1 New Change , London EC4 , opposite St Pauls Cathedral. This was carved by Esmond Burton in 1953. It shows two Art Deco stylised Lions Rampant, either side of a fountain / cascade of coins of the realm...including Sovereigns , Crowns, Half Crowns, Florins , Shillings ... Threpenny bits...even a Farthing....See also Stock No 9923.
