PLANTAGENET : A carved stone plaque with the stylised inscription 'Plantagenet' on the lower banner. The high relief well defined detail shows stylised roses surmounted by a large flowering Anthymion. English Arts & Crafts, late 19th c.

The House of Plantagenet , also called the House of Anjou, or Angevin dynasty was originally a noble family from France, which ruled the County of Anjou. They later came to rule the Kingdom of England (1154–1399), as well as Jerusalem (1131–1205), Normandy (1144–1204 and 1415–1450), and Gascony and Guyenne (1153–1453).
