9251.DOUBLE HEADED EAGLE CREST : A large carved oak twin headed Eagle coat of arms.The double headed Eagle was the emblem of the Byzantine Empire from around 350 AD. It symbolised one head turning to Rome in the West and one to Constantinople in the East. This one is possibly that of a London Livery company...research continues. English 19c.
