JAMAIS ABATTU...NEVER BEATEN / BETTERED...A large carved polychrome stone Heraldic Plaque with the motto " Jamais Abattu "..Never Vanquished on the banner, the motto of the Lindoe family, three wild boarheads, alluding to the practice of the hunting of wildboar and hospitality, on the diagonal Chevron of the shield, two talons either side, surmounted by a knights helm under a crown, beneath a single wing again with the chevron with three boarsheads, wreathed with scrolled leaves. Image before restoration, in progress. English 19th century. Lindoe in England believed originated in Cumberland, before that possibly Spain.
