A fine portrait of a gentleman in the manner of Michael Wright in a carved giltwood frame, oil on canvas.Both painting and frame late 17th , early 18th century.

NOTES : Johann Heinrich Tischbein the Elder, called the Kasseler, (October 3, 1722 in Haina – August 22, 1789 in Kassel), was one of the most respected European painters in the 18th century and an important member of the Tischbein dynasty of German painters, which spanned four generations. His work consisted primarily of portraits of the nobility, mythology scenes, and historical paintings. For his mythology paintings he mostly resorted to models of the highest aristocracy.
