A large circular embossed brass plaque, centred by the bust of Emperor Charles Quint, (1500 - 1558 ) surrounded by portrait medallions, cherubs and leaf scrolls.
Charles was born in Flanders, spoke French, and became Duke of Burgundy as a child. As he grew up, he inherited three more crowns from different grandparents: Habsburg Austria, Spain and the German lands.
