4349. A large polychrome Japanese Imari vase painted in iron red, green, blue and gilt decorated with chrysanthemums, tree peonies and panels of lanscapes with courtesans standing wearing kimonos.

This vase was manufactured by TOKUDA YASOKICHI " The second ".....he is recognised as " A Living National Cultural Treasure" since 1976 in Japan. The artist was born in Tatsunokuchi in 1907 and was adopted by Tokuda Yasokichi the first. After his father passed away, he succeeded to his name and became Tokuda Yasokichi the Second. He became the second chairman of the Society to Preserve Kutani Porcelain Technique and was designated an Intangible Cultural Asset by Ishikawa Prefecture. He gave his name to his son, Masahiko, and renamed himself Momokichi. The above expertise was from M Jean Montisci Pierrard, France.
