A charismatic large boldly carved antique oak mirror in the Renaissance Baroque manner, the arched plate glass within a high relief carved frame.This antique Hunting Lodge mirror with a Robin Hood lookalike bearded huntsman's mask at the apex, his collar of oak leaves and acorns flanked by scrolled foliage, fretwork and generous C scrolls.. each side descending and carved with Spaniel dog's heads, similar to the Irish Water Spaniels on chimneypiece 9180, below a brace of hung gamebirds within a carved cartouche and repeatedly scrolled strapwork borders.Italian 19th century.

A French Neo Renaissance overmantel mirror Black Lacqered, Giltwood and gesso with the original wide-bevelled mirror plate....the decoration of two female winged mythical Griffin like beasts centered by a stapwork cartouche with a Lion's mask surmounting repeating Venetian arches supported on tall reeded columns topped by Satyrs., Possibly also by furniture maker : L. Clerot , 3 rue des Carmes , Rouen... See also 10608 which is another mirror of similar dimensions but different decoration wich has the makers label on the back. French circa 1860.
