9121. A SPLENDIDLY FORMAL large late Regency / George IV arched chimneypiece boldly carved in darkest Black marble....which when polished with high speed power tools exudes the unmistakeable odour of Sulphur....! decorated with triumphant Roman laurel leaf wreaths and garlands under a massive serpentine shelf with projecting socle . Shown with arched register grate (9122) . English circa 1820.
Provenance : Removed by us from a Regency House in the Gloucester Road , Kensington, rumoured to have been at one time the London Residence of a Mr D.Vader ?
