THOMAS JECKYLL AESTHETIC MOVEMENT ..IN ASH : A rare and charming Aesthetic Movement chimneypiece in Ash wood, inset with hand painted Minton , Hollins & Co tiles painted in black and red , depicting birds and flowers , and the orginal pretty cast iron register grate also inset with matching tiles , the design attributed to Thomas Jeckyll 1827-1881, and the manufacture attributed to Barnard, Bishop and Barnards of Norwich and London .
The throat of the grate inscribed REGISTERED TRADE MARK "THE ABBOTSFORD" . The fire bars with lozenge shaped registration mark for 22.2.1878, therefore English 1878.
