10043. CASTELLATED GOTHIC REVIVAL: A desirable and compact carved chimneypiece and overmantel in very hard sandstone in the Gothic Revival manner. Two high castellated finials descending behind tapering florally carved Spires, both flanking the lintel with continuous flowering tendril detail, over the central panel also carved in high relief with joined double trefeuille motifs, surmounting deep panelled spandrels carved with quatrefeuille designs containing and forming a pointed Gothic Arch.....all supported on three panelled jambs.

PROVENANCE : Removed from Milearn House, the former home of Drummond of Blair Drummond, near Perth Scotland in the 1970's.
