10014. A VERY LARGE TUDOR GOTHIC REVIVAL CHIMNEYPIECE IN PAINSWICK LIMESTONE, possibly by T. H. Wyatt 1807-1880, a contemporary of Pugin.
The frieze and canted ends are carved with nine Quatrefeuille under a concave moulded shelf with likewise nine carved floral motifs in the Pugin style of Oak leaves, over a Gothic arch with oakleaf carved spandrels.
Provenance: Wyke House, near Trowbridge, Somerset ...home of the Hammond Family, 19th century Cloth Mill owners in Trowbridge ...demolished in the 1950's.
