An attractive sophisticated Neo Classical Specimen Marble Chimneypiece of compact size, in the manner of Sir Henry Cheere, 1703-81. The stepped statuary marble shelf over a dentil undershelf supported on richly figured Convent Sienna frieze panels flanking a centre tablet of gold veined Portora marble. The sharply moulded statuary ingrounds inlaid with Brocatello d’Espagna, flanked on either side also with lightly veined Portora black marble jambs seated on stepped statuary footblocks. English early 19th century.
