6424. A very smart Neo Classical chimneypiece carved in Statuary marble with very finely figured and coloured solid Spanish Brocatelle marble inlaid panels on the frieze, lintel and the jambs . The central plaque depicts a Peacock with its feathered fan tail raised, further carved detail of egg and dart around the exterior with continous guilloche motif around the opening.English, 18th century elements rebuilt around 1900.
