11068 : A very smart Irish Neo Classical Georgian Chimneypiece in Kilkenny black fossil marble set with black basalt Jasper Wedgwood panels. The frieze with a breakfront centre tablet inset with a black basalt Wedgwood panel depicting Hercules in the Garden of the Hesperides with the central tree of the golden apples, entwined with a snake flanked by nymphs and with a seated figure of Hercules. To either side stand warriors with spears. With flat frieze panels to either side; the blockings set with a maiden in each oval panel bearing floral garlands. The jambs with flat pilaster pilasters on block feet. The whole surmounted by a moulded breakfront shelf. Dublin circa, 1885.
