10643. A VERY LARGE ITALIAN NEO CLASSICAL CHIMINEA FINELY CARVED IN WHITE MARBLE. The breakfront shelf with undershelf carved detail of Lambs Tongue , over Greek Key and repeating Egg and Dart over the frieze. The compact center panel with an urn carved in high relief again with intricate detail including Vitruvian Scrolls , a Gadrooned cover , and floral detail ...flanked either side with seated winged Griffins with raised paws each on a half displayed flaming Torchere / Incense burner with Vitruvian scroll motif.... backed with rich floral decoration...with high relief carved Ram's heads on the endblocks. All this is supported on Ionic Capitals over Acanthus leaves over panelled jambs carved with Olive branches and descending Bellflowers. Italian mid 19th Century.
