Antique sienna and green marble fireplace mantel with wood overmantle.

AN IMPRESSIVELY TALL MARBLE CHIMNEYPIECE WITH A GRAND MAHOGANY PANELLED OVERMANTEL IN THE BAROQUE MANNER.The chimneypiece is in Verde Antico dark green and black figured marble with pale yellow, veined Sienna marble jambs under the moulded Sienna lintle. This is supported on two finely carved scrolled Acanthus leaf decorated Corbals.. also Sienna. The ornate overmantel is in carved Cuban Mahogany with ebonised detail.There are four Salomonic spirally carved columns of which the center two columns are ebonised black with lower collars carved with intricate floral swags, topped with carved Corinthian capitals.Surmounting all is a scrolled pediment with a large high relief carved oyster shell. The middle ground of the overmantel is occupied by three staggered raised and fielded panels.Scottish early 19th century.
