9896. A rare Carron cast iron chimneypiece in the Neo Classical manner. The gadrooned shelf over a deep fluted frieze and jambs with a cantral plaque depicting winged putti , flanked by circular roundels, left showing Aurora with the Genius of Light and on the right Night with Her Children, Sleep and Death, designs by Bertel Thorvaldsen 1770-1844 ...The central plaque depicts The marriage of Cupid and Psyche.
