A PERIOD LOUIS XV CHIMNEYPIECE in subtly polychrome Pierre de Bourguignon, Burgundy Stone known in French as a Pierre Marbrier because of its hard, marble like character whereby it takes a polish. This one with the serpentine shelf integral with the panelled frieze centered by a delicate shell cartouche flanked either end by kidney shaped angled upper jamb decoration. French late 17th-18th century.
