10223 A FINE PAIR OF WALNUT DOORWAYS WITH OVERDOORS carved and gilded in the French Renaissance manner.The seperate overdoors with arched pediments centered with large stylised shell and C scroll motifs supported on ornately carved side scrolls , resting on the carved and gilded door surround again with the shell feature,on the doors the upper panels with extremely finely carved detail including stylised Dolphins, strapwork , cartouches and centered by a high relief carved Lions mask. The lower panels arched raised and fielded panels. The reverse side with plain raised and fielded panels. Held on substantial rising butt brass hinges. French 1870.
PROVENANCE: French / Italian 19th century, made to order in the English manner for PARK PLACE , Remenham nr Henley on Thames , Oxfordshire , built in 1871 by Architect Thomas Cundy in the French Renaissance manner for the Noble family.
