9099 : SPECTACULAR FLORENTINE RENAISSANCE BRONZE ANDIRONS : A truly magnificent and monumental pair of bronze andirons...Italian " alare " ....in the Florentine Renaissance manner. Of baluster form, the top one being pierced over the middle gadrooned one over the lower largest with floral decoration and the Fleur de Lys, symbol of the city of Florence since the beginning of the 1st millenium , guarded by female angels and supported on "S" and "C" scrolled bases.
Italian 19th century. ( photo before final polishing ) Oscar winning andirons from the 1942 film, Mrs Miniver...see last image below.
