A finely carved and elegant Italian Regency Carrara Marble antique chimneypiece with an embellished undershelf. The recessed frieze has a central panel carved with a reclining figure either side of which are two pairs of birds each pair holding one end of a floral swag in their beaks. The endblocks with large Medusa Masks are set above attached fluted columns, with delicately carved capitals, fronting the jambs and resting on five sided pillars above shaped footblocks. br> Italian, circa 1830.
