A very elegant Georgian style antique fireplace mantel in Statuary marble with a breakfront shelf atop dentil undershelf moulding with Wedgewood Jasperware central panels depicting ‘The Dancing Hours’ and similar endblocks, descending bell flowers on the jambs in the manner of John Flaxman (1755 - 1826) who worked for Josiah Wedgewood at the age of 20 and later studied Greek vase design in Rome. Provenance: a house in Leek, Staffordshire.
