A large tiled arched Victorian cast iron register grate, the 34 tiles probably by Minton specially made for this shaped grate with a stylised Renaissance motif fired in Ivory on a Burgundy background. The foundry mark " Wrights Patent Bivalve " on the Shell decorated arched ventilation door, with bowed firebars between large spirally decorated posts either side. The front plate can be enlarged to fit a considerably larger opening. English mid 19th century.
